Kershaw Area Resource Exchange (KARE) is excited to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring, an annual event, inspired by the Super Bowl, that unites communities to combat local hunger. Since its inception in 1990, Souper Bowl of Caring has partnered with individuals, schools, churches, and organizations to gather food and funds for local food banks and charities.
This year’s campaign runs from January 12th through February 9th. It’s easy to make a difference for those in need—simply bring non-perishable food items or monetary donations to KARE, located at 208 E. Marion St., on February 9th between noon and 1:30 p.m.
KARE’s Food Pantry provides families with about 170 lbs. of shelf-stable food, frozen meats, fresh produce, dairy, and bread. This supplemental food order, available once a month, is designed to feed a family of four for a week. In 2024, KARE saw a significant increase in pantry clients, serving 662 more households than the previous year. That’s why initiatives like Souper Bowl of Caring are so crucial in raising awareness and helping tackle hunger in our community.
